Boost Your Alkalinity

Cancer, the Big C, might just be the pressing health issue of our time. A condition wherein abnormal cell growth takes place grows unchecked, and spreads through a particular part of the body, cancer frequently results in the development of tumors, large clusters of abnormal, or malignant, cells. While normally thought of as a single disease, cancer is actually a catchall term for a diverse array of diseases that attack various parts of the body. Cancer is responsible for millions of deaths yearly, and despite the intervention of modern medicine, which can extend and improve the quality of a patient’s life significantly, remains largely incurable. For many, the typical cancer treatments of chemotherapy and/or radiation are simply too painful, too expensive, or for whatever reason, just plain undesirable. For these patients, alternative therapy, a natural or holistic regimen of treatment becomes the desired form of intervention. One of these, alkalinity boosting, for example, is especially favored for treatment of cancer.

Simply stated, alkalinity boosting is a treatment that focuses on balancing the body’s natural acid/alkaline balance, thereby maintaining a healthy pH value somewhere between 6.5 and 8.0 on a 14-point scale. In a healthy individual, for example, the ideal value would be 7.4, ever so slightly on the alkaline side. A reading on the acidic side, however, signifies that the body is depleting its natural resources to maintaining proper balance – magnesium, potassium, sodium, and calcium, e.g. – and thereby inviting cancer, disease, and other illnesses, which favor an acidic environment for propagation purposes.

The most natural means of alkalinity boosting would be a diet that encompasses significant servings of fruit and vegetables (especially lemons), ample water consumption, and modulated intakes of meats, cheese, and other dairy products. For those with difficulties maintaining a healthy diet, there are, fortunately, numerous supplements and systems available to boost one’s alkaline levels. These include Liph Solutions (“We put the pH in life.”), an alkaline concentrate solution, Alkaline Booster, an electrolyte solution, and Ionways Water Ionizers. Of particular interest in terms of details and information is the website for Boost Your Alkalinity (http://www.boostyouralkalinity.com/). A highlight of the site is one man’s recounting of his battle with and ultimate victory over prostate cancer. He relates a story of hereditary cancer, how he found out about alkalinity boosting, and how it could (and ultimately did) lower your PSA. The site also includes links to other illnesses that may be aided with alkaline boosting, such as diabetes, acid reflux, and yeast infections.

The jury is still out on the hard science of alkalinity boosting. For many scientists, doctors and researchers, the promise of alkalinity boosting is simply not tenable, that changing of pH levels in the bloodstream is minimal at best, and hardly justifies the fuss generated on the web, in advertisements and by way of word of mouth. That said, it must ultimately be remembered that the battle against cancer and many such diseases is conducted as much, individually, within the hearts and minds of those afflicted, as it is in the sterile offices of hospitals and medical centers. For that reason, if for no other, Boost Your Alkali is worth a look.
